Technology Overview

CTC Cable Corporation offers patented fittings and connectors for the installation of ACCC® conductor. The fittings are uniquely designed to provide effective clamping of the ACCC® composite core, while providing a form factor and handling methodologies consistent with utility industry expectations. All inner components of the tension and splice fittings are produced in CTC Cable’s Irvine, California plant with the aluminum sleeves and outer components sourced from qualified sources who have been serving the electrical utility industry for years.

CTC Cable’s proprietary dead end and splice hardware is specifically designed to hold ACCC® conductor.  The design is engineered to distribute a progressive grip on the composite core. This value was designed as the minimum amount of torque required to seat the collet in the housing without slippage. As greater tensions are exerted on the conductor, the collet and housing comfortably grasps the core to its maximum RTS.

ACCC® hardware is produced in three sizes (or families) to accommodate the entire range of ACCC® conductor sizes. All fittings have undergone complete characterization and testing consistent with high temperature, high stress applications and rated for operation in excess of the rated strengths of ACCC® conductor.

All ACCC® hardware and fittings are compatible with industry standard vibration dampers, armor rod, suspension clamps, and spacers.
