Prior to the start of construction, CTC Cable Corporation’s field support staff conducts a site evaluation and meets with each utility’s key installation staff members and contractors to ensure that proper equipment and tools are selected for each project. Depending upon the type of project, line voltage, conductor size, terrain and other environmental conditions, CTC Cable’s field support staff offers equipment and other recommendations to help ensure a trouble-free installation.
In addition to an equipment and ancillary hardware review, CTC Cable’s field support staff discusses proper stringing techniques and safe installation procedures. Training for the correct installation of the ACCC® conductor’s specialized dead end and splice assemblies is also provided prior to the conductor’s installation. Field training usually takes place in two parts: The first part of the training includes a presentation and discussion in a conference environment so that procedures can be reviewed and discussed; The second part of the training includes a field exercise to practice correct hardware installation.
In addition to installation training that is provided a few weeks before a project begins, a pre-construction meeting also takes place just prior to the start of the installation to review the procedures, discuss any open issues and provide additional training for any crew members that were not involved in earlier meetings. Field support remains available throughout the entire project.
